My jewelry works

My jewelry of recent years consists mainly of finds from the world's oceans. I combine them with precious metals, cultured pearls (preferably Tahitian pearls) and precious stones. Everyday objects, which are considered rather unorthodox materials in in the jewelry sector, such as plastic, glass, buttons or acupuncture needles are used.
The attraction of my work lies in the combination of the precious and the seemingly worthless. I do not want a hierarchy of materials. This is how I prefer to work with beachcombing objects, which - if at all - have to be processed  only  minimally,
in order to make them a piece of jewelry.
The "processing" by the sea is often so perfect that there is no need for human improvement.  It is important to me to maintain the character of a found object as much as possible. I prefer fragments to perfect parts.
The design of a piece of jewelry always depends on the type of the found object. Most of my work is therefore unique. Sometimes I create design series based on the same idea using similar materials.
I find the inspiration for my work in all
the countries around the world that I have travelled during the past 12 years.
Experiences with people and memories of places that have impressed me become incorporated in my work.
It is good to experience other realities and to learn that many people do not share our western ideas of what is valuable.
I have chosen jewelry as an expression of my art work, because this medium has been fascinating me from childhood.
Another field of work is collages and sculptures.
